Tantalize your tastebuds at Ubud’s new Italian hotspot,
Gioja restaurant. Named for the Italian word Gioja
(pronounced
“joy-a”),
meaning
“orgasmic”,
the
restaurant offers modern classical dishes with the
freshest hand-picked ingredients straight from its
on-premises garden.
Executive chef Daniele Taddeo describes his creations
as “contemporary cuisine” that incorporates his 20 years
of experience. He only uses the finest ingredients from
Gioja’s own vegetable garden or imported materials
from Italy, Japan and Australia.
Meanwhile, Daniele Restelli, the mind behind Gioja Ital-
ian Restaurant, credits his family heritage from Sardin-
ia, Lombardy and Abruzzo as the inspiration for the
project. Together with the Chef Taddeo, Restelli was
able to create the perfect synergy on display at Gioja.
Gioja delivers Italian classics and a curated wine selec-
tion with impeccable service. Choose between fine
dining for dinner or a relaxed vibe for lunch with the
restaurant’s à la carte menu. Gioja Italian Restaurant
can host 70 guests, with a combination of indoor sitting

Gioja - Ubud
Gioja is a luxurious modern-classic restaurant located
along Penestanan Road in the center of Ubud,
surrounded by vast rice fields that perfectly depict the
atmosphere of Bali. They serve delectable dishes made
with the freshest vegetables from their garden.
Gioja, which is Italian and is pronounced "joy-a," is
sometimes thought to signify "orgasmic." Other others
interpret it to imply "emotional bliss" or "a sense of
intense pleasure and contentment." Regardless of the
definition, Gioja Italian Restaurant is an orgasmic,
genuinely fantastic experience with an incredibly
fascinating ambience, along with delectable flavors of
homey Italian classics, outstanding service, and an
especially chosen wine collection.

Chef Daniele Taddeo Weaves
Modern Italian Classics at Gioja
SHEILA MANALAC - 06 FEBRUARY 2023
This is not a fine-dining restaurant. Rather, it is a “refined
gastronomic experience.” This is according to Gioja’s
executive chef Daniele Taddeo, who does not put labels
on his cuisine at the newest dining destination in Ubud.
I recently visited Gioja (pronounced joy-a), a quaint and
charming restaurant in the middle of Penestanan’s
intricate walkways, surrounded by rice paddies and
residential spaces, offering an intimate experience
amidst Ubud’s signature natural backdrop.
A brisk 100-meter walk from the street’s car access,
there’s an element of surprise that comes with a trip to
Gioja. I believe that good things come to those who
seek, and indeed, seek I did, and I found myself in the
middle of Ubud. The trip would be easy on a motorbike,
the chosen mode of transportation in Bali.
I immediately placed Gioja in the fine-dining category,
with the understated design feeling modern—the brick
walls highlighted with warm elements such as wooden
paneling, pops of color by way of heavy blue cushions,
and an outdoor space surrounded by rice paddies, and a
swimming pool to accentuate the space.
I went ahead and asked Chef Daniele about his
fine-dining creations on the menu, and as soon as I
placed the “fine-dining” label, I was corrected.
“I do not want to say we are ‘fine-dining’ because
immediately, we are put in a box. I would describe Gioja
as a ‘refined gastronomic experience.’ It’s where people
go for an experience where they hear stories about food,
and experience the chemistry of trying classic Italian
dishes that are manipulated and refined to their highest
quality,” said the Italian chef.
Gioja, which means “Joy” in Italian, invites guests to feel
joy as they dine. Not only with the food, but also with the
high standard of service, the comfort of the open-space
location, as well as the beverages.
Ubud’s newest dining destination,
Gioja is all about freshness and quality,
offering a refined gastronomic experience

Tickle your senses and tantalize your
tastebuds when you dine in Ubud’s
newest
Italian
hotspot,
Gioja
Restaurant.
Serving sumptuous modern-classical
dishes with the freshest ingredients
from their own garden, Gioja is
located along the Penestanan Road
in the heart of Ubud, surrounded by
lush rice fields that truly capture the
ambiance of Bali.
There are a ton of Italian restaurants in Bali, but few like Gioja Italian
Restaurant. First of all, its location. Hidden in a remote area of Ubud, the final
access is limited to bikes or by foot. Once you get in, the place is cosy and vibey.
Its warm, high-ceilinged, exposed beam surrounded by tan-coloured brick
wall, with a lush garden and a pool, gives the space an awesome feeling to be
in, perfect for date night, ideal for social gatherings with friends and family as
well as most other situations. But the majority of customers here appear to be
lured to the eatery by the chef's distinctive and contemporary creations. A
must-visit for Italian cuisine lovers.
Native of Italy, of course, Chef Daniele Taddeo has long proved himself one of
the island’s top talents. And, it is clear that he raised his game, once again,
since his previous positions. Creating an array of unusual combinations
without betraying his heritage, Taddeo's cuisine reflects his reverence for
tradition and his creative impulses.
Some believe that the Italian word
Gioja (pronounced “joy-a”), means
“orgasmic.” To others, it means
“emotional joy,” or “a feeling of
great pleasure and happiness.”
Whichever definition you choose,
Gioja
Italian
Restaurant
is
an
orgasmic,
truly
sensational
experience, with an exceptionally
mesmerizing atmosphere, paired
with delicious flavors of homely
Italian classics, impeccable service,
and an exclusively curated wine
collection.
Gioja Italian Restaurant’s Executive
Chef Daniele Taddeo describes his
creations as “contemporary cuisine,”
as he incorporates more than 20
years of experience as a chef in the
most renowned places in the world.
Only using the finest ingredients
available,
Gioja
farms
its
own
vegetable garden and imports top
quality elements from Italy, Japan,
and Australia.
Guests are invited to experience the
fine-dining menu offered for dinner,
or to appreciate a more relaxed vibe
for lunch with their a la carte menus,
and with a backyard swimming pool
and rice field view to enjoy.

Local Indonesian brand Purana recently launched a
collaboration with gift shop The Keranjang Bali. Fans of
Purana are aware of the many partnerships the
company has done with other fashion and non-fashion
brands, and seeing as The Keranjang is one of Bali’s
most famous one-stop gift shops, the collaboration is
fitting.
“This collaboration with The Keranjang Bali is quite
challenging for me, as designing a merchandise is
vaguely comprehensible, not so perplexing, yet very
unique. And up to now, I have rarely known or heard of
any other tourism site, either local or international, that
have their merchandise produced with a touch of
fashion. This is by far the biggest challenge for Purana,”
said Nonita Respati, Purana’s creative director.

Local brand collaborations have been growing in leaps

collaborations also strengthen brand awareness.
Purana, one of Indonesia’s famous local fashion brands,
recently took such a step, by actively collaborating with

This stunning collaboration – Purana and The

fashion collection using as its inspiration unique

Purana and The Keranjang Bali convey a ‘Message from

Selain kepiting, berbagi menu andalan lainnya antar
